A key is a promise. Vendors, inspectors, the next resident, us. Too many copies and the house is not yours. Too few and a repair waits on a drive across town.
A short list
We know who has access. We collect keys when the job is done. We do not leave a lockbox on a porch for a week because it was convenient on Tuesday.
Notice
Residents get word before someone comes, except when the water is in the ceiling. Even then, we tell them as we go.
After a turnover
New keys, old copies in, the log updated. It is dull. It is how a house stays a house and not a rumor.
